emberandinsert.com is an independent publisher of research about electric fireplaces, operated by Ember & Insert and published by Slate Mill Group. We do not sell fireplaces, install them, or service them. By using the site you agree to these terms.

Everything here is general information published in good faith. It is not professional advice, and three limits matter in particular:

• Electrical. We are not electricians and we do not give electrical-code advice. Panel capacity, dedicated circuits, receptacles inside wall cavities and permits are all questions for a licensed electrician in your jurisdiction.
• Structural. Cutting into a wall, framing an opening and installing a header are carpentry decisions with structural consequences. Where you are unsure, ask a qualified builder.
• Product-specific. Your unit's manual supersedes anything on this site. It was written by people who tested that specific product, which is more than we can say.

We take accuracy seriously — every figure here is read from a document we link or computed from a formula we show, and we correct errors publicly with the date. But specifications change without notice, manufacturers revise products mid-line, and prices move constantly. Verify anything that matters against the manufacturer's current documentation before you buy or install.

Where a manufacturer has not published a figure, we say so rather than estimating one. Where we have not tested something, we say that too — the full statement is on how we pick.

This site contains affiliate links and earns a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. That relationship is disclosed on every commercial page and set out fully on the affiliate disclosure. We are not a party to any transaction between you and a retailer, and questions about orders, shipping, returns and warranties go to that retailer or the manufacturer.

We link to manufacturer pages, retailer listings, government data and occasionally to competitors whose answer on a specific point is better than ours. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their privacy practices.

The text, layout, calculators and original analysis on this site are the property of Ember & Insert. You are welcome to quote short passages with a link back. Wholesale reproduction, scraping into a competing publication, or republishing the calculators is not permitted. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively.

The running cost and room size calculators are provided free and without warranty. They implement the arithmetic shown on their own pages — (watts ÷ 1,000) × rate, and watts × 3.412 — using the values you enter. The watt-to-BTU conversion is exact; the 20 BTU per square foot heating guideline is a stated rule of thumb, and the pages say so. They cannot see your room, your insulation or your climate, and should not be the only basis for a purchase.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this site, from reliance on information published here, or from any product you buy through a link on it. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

• Do not attempt to disrupt the site or its infrastructure.
• Do not scrape it at a volume that degrades service for other readers.
• Do not use the contact form to send bulk or automated messages — three separate checks are in place to prevent it.
• Do not republish substantial portions of the content as your own.

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
