A corner is the one place where three-sided glass earns its money, because it is the one place people actually see the side panes. Here is what is available and which install each unit demands.

Why a corner is the one place three-sided glass is worth it
Because a corner is the only position where people actually see the side panes. The commonest complaint about LED fireplaces is that they flatten from an angle — the flame is a lit surface, so viewed from the side you see the surface instead of looking into the effect. Three-sided glass fixes that structurally by giving you depth to look into. On a flat wall, two of those panes face framing nobody will ever see.
That makes this one of the few upgrades on this site we will recommend without hedging — but only in the right position. It is a geometry fix for a geometry problem, which is a much better reason to spend money than a longer feature list. The mechanism is on what makes a flame look fake.

This is the practical fork, and it matters more than the width. Exactly one three-sided unit in this range hangs on a wall. Corner framing is two jobs, not one
A flat-wall recess crosses one plane. A corner recess crosses two walls that meet, which means you are framing an opening in each, and if either crosses a load-bearing stud you need a header there. Cutting a stud removes a load path on both walls independently.
- Check what is in both cavities before committing. Corners are where wiring and plumbing frequently turn, so there is more in there than in a mid-wall run.
- Confirm the rough opening with Touchstone, not the unit's overall width. The two figures differ and the rough opening is what your framing must accommodate.
- Plan headers on both planes if you cross studs. If you are not confident about that, this is the point to bring in a carpenter rather than to improvise.
- Solve power before you cut. A cord hanging out of a flush corner unit defeats the whole point, and a receptacle inside a cavity is licensed work in most jurisdictions.
- Check the viewing angles by standing in the room. The argument for three-sided glass is that people see the sides. Confirm they actually will from where the furniture goes.

About 27.5 cents an hour on full heat and roughly $99 across a 90-day winter at four hours a night. A 72-inch three-sided unit and a 40-inch one cost exactly the same to run, because the constraint is a 120 V household circuit rather than the amount of glass.
#1 · A corner, without framing anything
Touchstone Chesmont Black 50 (3-Sided)
The only three-sided unit here that hangs on the wall. Everything else in this shape needs a framed opening.
This is the practical answer for most people, and the reason is install rather than flame. Touchstone lists it as a wall-mount three-sided unit with zero-clearance installation and a finished mantel — you hang it, you plug it in, you are done. Every other three-sided product on this page is recessed, which means framing a corner opening before the unit arrives.
Specs are 750 W and 1,500 W heat settings with a 400 square foot supplemental rating, tempered glass on three faces, LED flames with adjustable color and intensity, and WiFi with Alexa and Google alongside remote and manual control. It comes in black (80034) and white (80033).
The honest con is the one that applies to this whole page: three-sided glass is a geometry upgrade, not a thermal one. The heater is the same 1,500 W as a flat unit at a fraction of the price, and on a flat wall two of the three panes face nothing.
What it does not do: Three-sided glass needs a corner or a peninsula wall to make sense. Against a flat wall you pay for two panes nobody ever sees.

Touchstone Sideline Forte Infinity Pro 40 (80064)
Forty inches, recessed, three-sided. The smallest unit in the Infinity Pro range and the one that fits a normal room.
Three-sided units skew large, which is a problem because corners are usually where a room runs out of space rather than where it has plenty. At 40 inches this is the one that suits a genuine corner in a normally sized living room.
It is part of Touchstone's Infinity Pro three-sided range, which runs 40, 50, 60, 72 and 84 inches on the same recessed format.
Two cons. It is recessed, not wall-mounted, so there is no hang-it-and-plug-it option — you are committing to a framed corner opening. And Touchstone publishes less numeric detail on its collection pages than the mass-market retailer listings do, so confirm the rough opening with the brand before cutting a corner apart.

#3 · The standard recessed corner install

Fifty inches is the width at which a linear fireplace stops looking tentative, and on a peninsula or a room divider a three-sided 50 reads as architecture rather than as an appliance stuck in a wall.

The con is cost of works rather than cost of unit. A corner opening is two walls meeting, which means framing on both planes and a header if you cross a load-bearing stud on either. This is the point at which a lot of corner projects turn into carpenter jobs — see how to mount and recess.
What it does not do: Recessed rather than wall-mounted, so unlike the Chesmont it cannot be surface-hung. You are committing to framing before the unit arrives.

On a peninsula — a wall that stops partway across a room, with living space on both sides — three-sided glass stops being a nice touch and becomes the entire point. People genuinely view it from three directions, so all three panes do work.

The con is proportion and price together. Sixty inches of three-sided glass needs a peninsula deep enough to carry it and a room big enough that it does not dominate, and it is priced as the feature it is. Behind all of it sits the same 1,500 W heater as everything else on this site.

There is nothing wrong with the product. It is the second-largest of the Infinity Pro range, below the 84, and in the right space it would look extraordinary.
It is a skip because of what it asks of the building. A 72-inch opening crosses four or five studs, and on a corner or peninsula you are doing that on two intersecting planes with headers on both. That is structural carpentry, not a weekend cut, and the cost of the works will comfortably exceed the cost of the unit for most people.
It is also worth restating what all that buys thermally: nothing. Same 1,500 W, same roughly 5,118 BTU per hour, same 27.5 cents an hour as the 40-inch model. If six feet of flame is genuinely what the room wants, budget for the construction first and the fireplace second.
What it does not do: Six feet of opening crossing four or five studs. This is a structural job with a header, not a weekend cut, and the same 1,500 W heater sits behind all of it.

Questions people actually ask
Are corner electric fireplaces worth it?
In a genuine corner or on a peninsula, yes — three-sided glass is the most effective structural fix for the off-axis flatness that gives LED flames away, and a corner is where people actually see the side panes. Against a flat wall it is money spent on glass nobody looks through.
Can you wall-mount a three-sided electric fireplace?
Only some of them. Of the three-sided units Touchstone currently lists, the Chesmont 50 is the wall-mounted one; the Infinity Pro range from 40 to 84 inches is recessed. If you want a corner fireplace without framing an opening, that is the distinction that matters most.
Does a corner fireplace heat a room differently?
Not meaningfully. Output is the same 1,500 W and roughly 5,118 BTU per hour as any other plug-in unit. A corner position does tend to put the heat further from the middle of the room than a wall unit on the long wall, which is worth thinking about if heat is a priority rather than a bonus.
How much space does a corner install need?
More than people expect, because you are framing on two intersecting planes. Confirm the manufacturer's rough-opening figure for the specific unit, and remember that a corner is usually where a room is already tight — the 40-inch model exists for exactly that reason.
