Amantii electric fireplaces: which one to buy

Amantii's Panorama range splits on depth and almost nothing else. Extra Slim is four inches deep, fits a standard 2x4 wall, is hardwire ready and is rated for indoor or outdoor installation. Deep is 12.75 inches, needs a purpose-built chase or a doubled wall, and uses that volume for a much better-looking firebox with glass-nugget and diamond media. Both are capped at the same heat. Decide the depth your wall can take first; everything else in the lineup follows from that one number.

That is an unusually clean range structure, and it is the reason this brand is easier to navigate than its price suggests. There is no confusing middle tier: either the wall can take four inches, in which case you buy Extra Slim and finish it flush, or you are building a chase anyway, in which case the Deep gives you a far better fire for the same heat.

Amantii states that all models are rated for either indoor or outdoor use, and the BI-30 listing repeats it. That is worth pausing on, because the outdoor electric fireplace category has a hard rule we documented at length: genuine outdoor units produce no heat at all, because the weatherproof sealing that keeps water out also removes the vents a heater needs. Touchstone says so outright about its own outdoor model.

Amantii is claiming an outdoor rating while keeping the heater, which is a meaningfully different proposition from anything on our outdoor electric fireplaces page. We would read "outdoor" here the way any such rating should be read — a covered porch or a soffit, not open sky — and we would ask Amantii directly what ingress protection rating it holds, because they do not publish one. But if the target is a covered outdoor room and you want warmth in it, this is a rare place to look.

Amantii publishes up to 5,000 BTU per hour for the BI-60-XTRASLIM, which is the familiar ceiling: 1,500 watts on a 120-volt circuit is about 5,118 BTU per hour, and no brand in this category escapes it without a 240-volt supply.

The number to treat carefully is the coverage claim. Amantii rates the BI-60-XTRASLIM for up to 500 square feet, and the rest of the range for approximately 400 to 500 — on the same heat. Five thousand BTU per hour is not enough to be a primary heat source for either figure; it is zone heating that takes the edge off one room. BTU and room size has the arithmetic, and we would plan against the 400 rather than the 500.

Across the whole range, Amantii publishes coverage in square feet but never a wattage, a voltage or an amperage. This site stores 1,500 watts against these products and flags it in each entry, because 1,500 watts is the category ceiling and is what the published BTU figure implies — but it is arithmetic, not a quoted specification, and we would rather say so than let a number look more authoritative than it is.

More seriously for a range sold as built-in, there is no published rough opening for any model, and no published depth at all for the BI-40-DEEP. On a fireplace you install by cutting a hole in a wall, that is the specification that matters most. Amantii's distinctive claim is the four-inch body with a full-frame finish, and the indoor/outdoor rating alongside it. Against Modern Flames, whose entry model is 3.875 inches, the depths are comparable and the choice comes down to Hybrid-FX layered flame against Amantii's canopy lighting and outdoor rating. Against Napoleon, the formats barely overlap — Napoleon's distinctive product is the see-through CLEARion.

Against Touchstone at a third of the price, you are buying depth and finish and losing a genuinely fuller published specification, which is the recurring trade at this end of the market. Where this tier does and does not earn its money is the subject of high-end electric fireplaces.
