Privacy policy
Analytics, affiliate cookies and a contact form. That is the whole list.

The short version
We run Google Analytics to see which pages get read. We use affiliate links, which set cookies from the retailer when you click one. If you email us or use the contact form, we get your message and your email address and use them to reply. There is no account to create, no newsletter, and nothing is sold to anyone.

What we do not collect
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is no password to store.
- No newsletter. We do not run a mailing list and we will not add you to one.
- No payment information. We sell nothing. Purchases happen entirely on the retailer's own site.
- No advertising trackers of our own. There are no ad networks, no retargeting pixels and no third-party ad scripts on this site.
- No chat widget, no tag manager, no session recording.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which links they click, including a custom event when a buy button is clicked. Google processes this data and its own privacy policy governs what it does with it. You can block it with any standard content blocker, and the site works identically if you do.
Affiliate links and cookies
Buy links on this site are affiliate links. Clicking one sends you to the retailer, which typically sets a cookie so it can attribute a purchase to us. That cookie is the retailer's, set on the retailer's domain, and governed by their privacy policy — most commonly Amazon's. We do not receive your order details, your payment information, or your identity: what we see is aggregate commission, not who bought what.

The contact form
The form sends us your name, email address, chosen subject and message. It runs three spam checks before sending: a hidden field bots fill and humans do not, a check that the form was not submitted within three seconds of loading, and a per-IP limit of five submissions an hour. That last check holds your IP address in memory for up to an hour and nowhere else.
We use your email to reply to you and for nothing else. It does not go on a list.
Hosting and delivery
This site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard server request data as part of delivering pages. Email from the contact form is sent through Microsoft Graph. Both are processing your data on our behalf in order to run the site.
Your choices
- Block analytics with any content blocker or by disabling JavaScript. The site works the same.
- Do not click affiliate links if you would rather no retailer cookie is set. Every product on this site can be found by searching for it directly.
- Ask us to delete your message. Email info@emberandinsert.com and we will delete the correspondence.
- Ask what we hold. Same address. Realistically it will be an email thread, because that is all there is.
Children
This site is written for adults buying home appliances and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not make material changes quietly.
